Missoni
The story of Missoni's now-legendary patterned knits of zigzags, waves, and stripes began when founders Rosita and Ottavio opened a small knitwear workshop in Gallarate, Italy in 1953. With recognition by fashion editor Anna Piaggi, the business took off. Missoni has been noted as an art as much as a business. Missoni brought a vivid sense of imagination and color to knits, rescuing them from the heirlooms and old-fashioned aspects of hand knits and from the conventional sameness of many machine-knitted products.
