Norma Kamali
In a highly original way, Norma Kamali has been designing with uncanny foresight for the modern woman's multifaceted lifestyle. Norma Kamali studied fashion illustration at FIT, and then went to work for an international airline. She traveled frequently to London, and her experience with the London fashion scene led her to open a clothing boutique in New York City in 1968. The store was a hit, and Kamali decided to start her own clothing line. Kamali is credited with inventing many popular designs including the sleeping bag coat, a collection of styles created from actual silk parachutes, high heeled sneakers, and the popular packable, multi-use poly jersey clothing that can be worn in up to thirty variations per design.
